Heightened Security
November 23, 2009
Dear Parent or Guardian,
We would like to inform you of a situation that took place at Barlow High School today. Just after twelve o’clock, we were notified that a former student had made a threat against the school on an internet website.
As soon as we learned of this threat, we immediately implemented our school emergency plan. Our school resource officer along with the Gresham Police Department increased security at the school. As a part of our emergency plan, we worked with police to conduct a threat assessment.
The parent of one of our students saw this threat online and notified the school. Good communication is the key to keeping our school safe and the parent who reported the threatening message did the right thing by notifying the school.
The safety of our students and staff is paramount at all times, just as it is with you. Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please call me at
503-674-5600.
Sincerely,
James Hiu, Principal
Barlow High School
